The GCTA Redfish Bowl was formed to help support the Galveston Bay area anglers with a last minute tournament.
One of the nationally known events was cancelled due to Tropical Storm Cindy and the anglers had already taken time off work and had invested time in pre-fishing and preparing for that tournament.
After many calls and request for GCTA to host an event we decided to hold the event if we could get no less than 40 teams to compete! Within 24 hours we had 38 teams and decided its ago and we created the 1st Annual GCTA Redfish Bowl!
Friday evening was the Captains Meeting and we had 10 more teams sign up bringing the total to 48 teams and a payout of $20,000 paid to the top five winning teams! With such short notice, e had trouble finding a venue and Jackie’s Brickhouse was gracious enough to welcome the event with open arms! With such an overwhelming response we have decided to this event annually in Galveston Bay from here on out! Thank you to all of the anglers who stepped up to make this event a great success!
